Its not a craze or anything...if the match is played by the home team in a home ground it will be crowded obviously no matter who the players are...and as far as i know the ppl at chennai love watching sachin play more than sourav and sourav is popular coz of his captaincy!!

i have seen some people who pray to god or even have HAWANS at their houses to get sourav back in the team!!
their is much craze for sourav in some parts of the country while some even want him to be out!

Saurav is only popular as any other cricketers ...
Chennai doesn't give that much importance to the individuals, if Saurav is playing or not all the matches are being played in full packed stadium.
So believe not only Chennai, everywhere in INDIA the people come to see CRICKET...not Saurav or any other individuals...

indian cricket is dominated mostly by north indians
so we don't find many south indians in the team
it may be the reason.since we can't support the north and we don't have south people,support the east
one more reason,south people are so soft,they felt bad at what has happened to ganguly, the south people, if they love some one they have gone to the extent of buiding temples for them.if they like some one such is the intensity in their love
