download the latest version of direct X

read the side of the box of the games and find out if your computer meets the requirements to play the game. If you have a direct x error it means either that direct x is not installed on your computer o you have a older version.Every install disc for a game has the direct x program, try reinstalling the direct x again (version 9 or 10). or you can go to the direct x web site to download it and install it.Direct x is an aplication which helps start and runs windows programs
