I hear a lot of people saying how Texas and the Southwest was part of Mexico ... (I am Spanish living in Texas and I would love to see Texas be part of Spain). ....

For all you that say Texas (California and the Southwest) was stolen from Mexico remember Mexico (and the southwest) was stolen from Spain first...

So Texas is not part of Mexico it is part of Spain!

Also we Spaniards stole all of it from the natives along with our friends the Dutch, British, French and Portuguese ....

My question is why don't we give up this stolen land crap and just say it all belongs to Spain!

There was no nation at all in these parts. Spain came here and claimed it, true. There were just a few scattered Indian tribes in Texas. California NM and AZ had more Indians. Few if any live in or come from Mexico; Mexicans are mainly of Aztec origin with some Spanish. The Aztecs themselves raided and subdued most other tribes around them and stole their lands.

So much land in AZ, CA and NM is in Indian reservations already-AMERICAN Indian-the actual original inhabitants.

Mexico has no claim in the US. It would even be hard for Mexico to even lay claim to its own northern half. Mexicans are doing what they do best with this argument-trying to put ignorant guilt trips on us to greedily grab our land.

Incidentally, where are the Indian reservations in Mexico? ...and why not? Don't they believe in giving land back to original inhabitants?

The bottom line is that I believe in a statute of limitations. Nobody has claim to that land simply because their ancestors had it. If you were not the actual person that it was "stolen" from, you have no claim on it. Americans are not a race anyway. Many millions of us are Mexican by blood here too so if you do want to go the hereditary route then our country has hereditary rights as well.

BECAUSE IT WASN'T STOLEN FROM SPAIN.

Spain was driven out of Mexico by Mexicans, (just like the british were driven out of the colonies).

And to add insult to injury, the main proponents and generals of the revolution were Mestizo's, half breed Spanish-Native Americans.

DANNY... Rome is in Italy and not a seperate country, thereby governed by Italy, no?

FURSHLUGY... grab a handful of books and not your beltbuckle before you answer a question, unless you were a witness.

FURSHLUGY... Please explain to me why several Native American "Indian" nations thru-out Arizona and New Mexico speak a language almost identical to the Aztec language... and in some tribe, the exact language!
Did you know that the Aztecs were a networked nation?

The US set Mexico as much as hearth the primary shot over land disputes (in Texas, to begin with) that might result in their finally wasting no longer simply the disputed land, however a lot more! In different phrases, intricate disagreements over land in Texas resulted in Mexican nationals, and later, the Mexican Army, attacking US settlers in Texas - the primary photographs fired. Once that happened, the US then had the extremely-favored provocation (casus belli) wanted not to best defeat Mexico involving Texas, however to additionally get General Santa Ana, commander of Mexican forces to signal over the entire southwest in alternate for his very lifestyles! So, technically, it wasn't a "scouse borrow" however a lop-sided cut price received via a little bit little bit of temptation and manipulation. Mexico was once then paid $five million as aspect of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo - 1848.

Think of Governments like Street Gangs (I think they are the best non Governmental Equivalents).

Why would the Gang in charge now want to give up it's turf (land) if all the people who live their are paying protection money (taxes).

What you want doesn't matter, nor does who used to own it.

Why Spain.

If you are going to give it to anyone give it to the real native mexicans .... not the decendents of the conquistadors who wiped out most of the indiginous population

I think that the United States should give itself back to England. We can have a queen, then.
Anybody, ANYBODY would be better than Bush.
