Purpose of punishment is to reform the the criminals but in some cases
1. person is beyond the process of reformation and he starts enjoying his criminal acts such as serial killers, psychopath and
2. in some other grave cases the convict has done such a heinous crime that conscious of a ordinary person is shaken and to deter others from doing similar acts capital punishment is needed.
3. even law commission in its various reports has recommended not to ban it specially in Indian system.
4. further such a punishment is given in keeping the norms of the society in mind and in a least cruel manner i.e. by hanging
so, i feel that capital punishment should not be banned.

Capital Punishment has been held to be a valid form of punishment by the Supreme Court of India but with a caveat that it should only be awarded in the rarest of rare cases as held by the Supreme Court in Bachan Singh Vs. State of Punjab.
While capital punishment has been banned in a significant number of western countries, in India due to wide spread violence and terrorism perpetrated by terrorists, jehadis, naxalites, anti-nationals, etc. the situation warrants that capital punishment should be retained as a form of punishment.

It must be sparingly used. There may justifications in very many cases, not to award capital punishment. But, that does not justify the scrapping of the provision from the Statute Book. On many occasions, murders are committed not in a premeditated manner, but in a fit of anger or out of despair on a heinous crime on some of their dear ones traumatising you so much that you are driven to that extreme step to avenge the wrong. Some are committed in a brazen manner, without any justifiable provocation but only with a view to harm and terrorise others. Stringent laws are indeed necessary to protect the society from the hardened criminals.

There cannot be a blanket ban on capital punishment. Certain crimes which are heinous in nature need to be dealt with most severely viz., capital punishment. We cannot be unduly idealistic.
We live in a real world wherein we need to see things in a practical way. Ofcourse we need to keep a level head and judge criminals dispassionately.

No. Punishment on the crimes is not only against the criminal but also for those who has the tendency to do any crime. Hence, the strict vigilence against crime and timely punishment is the security of any world, nation even to the family.

Really depends whether or not the country has a good enough legal system to control crime and give fair trials... if innocent ppl are convicted, then it should be banned since they will be killed for something they didn't do...
But we could castrate all the rapists... make them think twice...

Its obvious some people deserve to die, but its a double standard and sends a bad message. Basically its either wrong to kill or it's not, simple. I think killing some of these sicko's is doing them a favor, i would rather see them rot. But it does put closure to suffering families, but never brings loved ones back. Do we really have a right to be executioners and who does it, would'nt that person be nuts also. Anyways this is not something I would ever ***** over though.

it should be there.it is not that i am cruel..but pls think if a person like latest judgement of Delhi high court commits a crime.an influential person plans and go to his classmates house raps her violently and kilL her not simply but as per court butchered her. after that he is marrying and living happily.think of last minutes of that girl as your sister wife etc.this not one example allover the world daily it is happening.so this type of people are not human.they have no moral right to exist.so as long as the case is proven beyond doubt. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE AWARDED

Killing is appropriate only when there is no scope for change from cruelity to normal attitude because that human machine is made by God to improve the National wealth.Till then all his/her energy is to be used only for improving the wealth of the Nation.
