Star Trek isn't really dead - just give it a few years, someone will come along and try to revive it again, that's a given. The whole idea of Trek is something that people dream about at one point or another in their lives, and as long as people look up at the stars and wonder what's out there, Star Trek will live forever.

Shaun of the Dead you should watch first, but they're both excellent comedic horror movies. I knew I was going to like Zombieland after the first 2 minutes. Resident Evil is more horror/suspense; I prefer the comedic horror genre. Star Trek is very good though. It depends on what kind of movie you're in the mood for.
