from my understanding there is always an unavoidable element of death involved in martyrdom,
she calls me a martyr so frequently am beginning to take offence

It's a saying. It's about your state of mind, it could mean someone acting like a victim when it is something they are bringing upon themselves. It could also mean someone is very self-sacrificing.

Why do you think there are so few good people around - they are martyr-kind, hence dead for all practical purposes. Being a good soul in this world is equivalent of martyrdom.

Next time you go to her house, walk in with a makeshift bomb pack (paper towel rolls painted red on a black harness in the front and the back) strapped to your chest. Tie a towel around your head and wear a long white dress underneath it with the ugliest pair of black shoes that you can find. Be sure to be tightly clutching the Koran and if you can find a fake AK-47, that will add to the effect. Tell her that if she doesn't stop, you will blow her and yourself to High Heaven. See how she reacts.

A martyr is someone that dies for their beliefs like someone getting killed for their religious beliefs.

ok i think you need t sit your momma down and have a conversation about it she may not understand the meaning and she may not know that you are getting offended
