How long it hurts down there after delivery? I know this is a weird question, sorry about that but would really like to know. Were you able to walk the same day, or was it too painful? thanks for your answers

You have alot of answers, but here is the CURE! Get a small bottle of witch hazel (it $2 something at shoppers) Put is in the fridge, and put a recieving blanket in the fridge also, to cool. Put some witch hazel on the recieving blanket, and apply to your vagina like a compress. It is the greatest, it takes all the burning and aching out, and seriously, at that point, its almost better than an orgasm, cause it gives you so much relief. You can do this several times a day, when you are feeling sore. At the hospital where I had my son, they handed out frozen pads with witch hazel wet naps for this purpose. You will be fine in a couple of days, but seriously get some and do that, you will thank me later.

I have two kids one born naturally and was not prepared. My son was born with shoulder dystocia where the shoulders either get stuck on one hip bone or the other and he nearly died my labour was 23 hours long and that was with syntocin adminstered which makes you dilate more quickly anyway I am not trying to scare you dear however I was given an epidural and after about 1/2 an hour was able to push and did when nothing happened for several minutes after pushing out his head it went from a relaxed situation where labour was going fine to a scary scary situation my baby flatlined they wouldn't tell me what was happening just told me not to panic all at once the room is filled with about 8 docs and nurses instead iof the two midwives that were there seconds before and 1 doctor I like to call him my angel reached inside me and all of a sudden said biggest push you can and I did I heard a popping noise and found out later that he had just broken my childs shoulders as he was wedged so hard up against hip bones he was going nowhere and my darling boy was violently thrust into the world. I lay there in shock as I still hadn't been informed what was happening then I looked out of the door into the hallway where the docs had taken him to a bed and nearly had a heart attack they were performing CPR shaking him slapping him and yelling because he wasn't breathing and I prayed and I am not a person to ask the big man for much but this was different and then I heard my partner his dad scream c'mon bubby and my child coughed and spluttered and took his first breath all the docs just stared at my partner with absolute looks of shock and amazement on their faces as it really did seem as if bubba heard him. Now this is not a common occurence but I had a perfect pregnancy and got to the labour and this happened so be aware anything can happen just don't you panic. Now as for the pain I had a third degree tear not a cut which required 5 layers of stitching and was extremely bruised but about 3 hours after my epidural had worn off properly I was able to get up and walk no problems even though the pain was extreme after all we are women we can do anything. My son spent 10 days in intensive care and survived with no problems to this day he turned three on the 7th Oct. Now I am an absolute shocker when it comes to pain can't handle it but I did this so if I can you can too swear and yell it helps nobody holds a grudge. Good luck and best wishes mate

you will be able to walk the same day, you will be sore but not unbearable, in fact the hospital will want you up and moving a little and will want you to take a shower, you can't lay on your back too long, not healthy- the worst part for me was the icky stuff for 2 weeks after- you will bleed and feel icky and have that blood smell, maybe you will be the only one that smells it but it still is bothersome, you will have to wear pads *L* and umm your sensitve skin down there will sting and hurt for a few days to a week- the hospital or doctor will give you some spray like prescription dermaplast, for your vulva region- it will become your best friend
when you go to the bathroom you will have to blot instead of wipe, not that it wont take over one stinging wipe to convince you of that anyways..you can have showers but baths are not reccomened so as to avoid infections from bath water getting into extremely vulnerable places.
not a weird question at all, I had no mom or female relatives to ask when I had my babies and the docs certainly don't tell anyone anything- I don't know why but they never seem to want to prepare people enough

good luck to you and don't be scared :o)

It doesn't really, at least not for me. You can walk the same day, with a normal delivery, even if you have an episiotomy. But you do have to take it easy for a couple weeks, cuz the area with the stitches can get sore if you are too active. Nothing about it was painful from my experience.

It will be like you're having a heavy period with cramping for a couple of weeks. It's also rather messy.

You will want to walk around some, but take it easy and use this time to rest up. I've noticed that people who basically rest for the first 2 weeks recover much better than people who try to get back to things quickly. After 2 weeks the resters will be starting to recover while the others will be wearing out!

It depends on what kind of delivery you will have. If you dilate enough you will have a natural birth and if not you will have a cesarean. I said that to say, naturally you can recover but you will need to take it slow so that you will not have a set back, which will cause a relapse in your healing. A cesarean takes more time, about 2-4 weeks. You have to move around, not by choice, its necessary. They will have you get up in the hospital to walk around to make sure you are moving around. Do not be afraid, it will be okay, after all you are delivering a new life.

yes you can walk but slowly...The labor is the one really painful especially the back.. Measuring your cervix is more more painful. After all this pain..alll you have to do is just push..its not really hurt anymore.. there is pain but everything will be okay once you see the baby. MAke sure that you will do the right push to avoid hemorrhoid and episiotomy..Normal delivery recovered fast.

Please make sure you do walking everyday so it will help you to have a normal delivery.. It is more difficult if you will be cesarian.

Goodluck to you. Dont worry too much..just relax..just think almost all the women in the world gave birth, so you are not the only one who will experience this. Be calm and the pain will goes away once you see your baby. Sometimes worrying will cause highblood pressure which is dangerous in giving birth.. it will cost your life..So do not think about the pain.. just think you need to be strong because your baby is coming.

You will definitely be able to get up and walk the same day. But you may not have to worry about that kind of pain at all. Who knows, you may end up having a c-section. You won't know until you get there. And from experience I can honestly say that the pain is the last thing I remember.

It hurts a bit more if you tear or need a large episiotomy. They usually put a ice pack down there to help stop the swelling that happens from childbirth. I remember it feeling funny not painfull. And yes I walked about 1 hour after my epidural wore off & my legs were again strong enough. (I tried to get up earlier but my legs gave out from the epidural) make sure you have someone at yur side when you get up the first few times. Good Luck!

Every new mother goes through the same thoughts believe me, and as I said to my daughter as she was in labour, this is not going to be a party in the park, but boy when that little bunddle arrives you will forget everything. You will be walking on air so don't worry too much about pain.

Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you.
