The skin. Although it is tissue, organs are just groups of tissues.

Both the options "SKIN" & "LIVER" are correct in the following respects...

The skin is often known as "the largest organ of the human body". This applies to exterior surface, as it covers the body, appearing to have the largest surface area of all the organs. Moreover, it applies to weight, as it weighs more than any single internal organ, accounting for about 15 percent of body weight. For the average adult human, the skin has a surface area of between 1.5-2.0 square meters, most of it is between 2-3 mm thick. The average square inch of skin holds 650 sweat glands, 20 blood vessels, 60,000 melanocytes, and more than a thousand nerve endings.

The adult human liver normally weighs between 1.3 - 3.0 kilograms, and is a soft, pinkish-brown "boomerang shaped" organ. It is the second largest organ (the largest organ being the skin) and the largest gland within the human body.

Multicellular organisms are made of organs, which are made up of cells. So, our body is a mass of cells except for the water molecues and other things. So, the skin, which is considered an organ, is the largest organ. For the average adult human, the skin has a surface area of between 1.5-2.0 square meters, most of it is between 2-3 mm thick. The average square inch of skin holds 650 sweat glands, 20 blood vessels, 60,000 melanocytes, and more than a thousand nerve endings.

I certainly thought skin was the largest organ. Someone has suggested it is not an organ.

If that is so, the liver is the next biggest.

skin
The entire outer surface of the body and the principal boundary between the external environment and the body's internal environment of cells and fluids. Skin serves as the primary barrier against the intrusion of foreign elements and organisms into the body, and also as a large and complex sense organ through which animals explore and learn about the external world. In addition, skin functions to maintain the homeostasis of the body's constituents, acting as a barrier to the loss of various ions and nutrients by diffusion. For terrestrial animals, it also serves as an effective barrier to water loss, without which most land animals would rapidly become desiccated and die.
