Go to the school where they teach massage therapy. The ones in my area offer massages at reduced rates so the advanced students can gets hands on practice.

most of the massage schools offer low cost massage done by their students getting hours towards certification. There is a body/mind school in Sorrento Valley and the pacific college of oriental medicine has a clinic in mission valley between Fashion valley mall and Ikea (kind of up the hill from canyon pottery). I had a couple of great massages from the sorrento school.

Look for massage shools. Not only are the sesions cheap but you'll both be helping the next generation of "rubbers", but also you can tell them without embaressment what fels good and what doesn't based on what you told them you were expecting from on the instructions you gave them.
