Anyone who furthers the cause of non-violent resistance and human rights is helping to evolve humanity into something better.
MLK deserves to be remembered for that reason. America has too few examples of this kind of courage.

I hate that scene where Dr. King is forcefully removed by Police for wanting to sit at the white area of the lunch counter at the diner, I felt so bad for him, it made me so embarrassed to be "White" :( Some black people are mean, some are really nice and have been my friend, That whole era was wrong, Dr King got his point across peacefully, thats what made HIS impact !

Yes. Not only was he an activist for social equality and freedom of oppression he did this under great adversity and triumphed. Louis Riel in my country makes me feel the same way when I think of him as does Dr. King...Someone who believes. Not for power or blame but because it's right. Sometimes changing history is difficult but change enough minds and you can change history.

No. None of the civil rights movement was important because of the way that their advancements have been wasted by the youth of today. Why fight to have a brigther world for your descendants when they allow your hard work to be undone through violence, gun culture, voter apathy etc.

King's legacy has been squandered by its recipients, and that means that his whole life's work, and the reason for his death was ultimately a waste.

Yes I think he was.

There are things I do not like about the "movement" but all in all it is a part of our American history and needed to be done for what and how we think today.....

I remember my brother had pictures of him on his wall when we were little. At that time we had no black people in our schools nor in our area of town. Made me go out and look him up at the library... No one had pc's at that time.....

Personally, I think so. But it matters more what society thinks (and society - at least American society - deems that he was important).
