I think that above stated solutions might not work on FAT partition. U should have a NTFS.
What u can do is install Winzip 9.0 from www.winzip.com.
And zip the entire folder along with a password..

If your XP is installed in an NTFS-formatted partition and not on a FAT32-formatted one, AND the users of that PC log in to Windows with their specific username or login name and password, then you can just put all your files in your Documents and Settings (your profile folder as already described by one of the responders here). It will be inaccessible to everyone else since they need your Windows XP password to access it. If the users do not even login with their password, then all files will be accessible in Documents and Settings since everyone will be using the same profile folder. Using Winzip to password-protect a file or folder is kinda weak. It is so easy to crack it.

Just right click the folder> Then to properties> Then to sharing> Then click "make this folder private"
The only other way to set passwords for your folders is to go to Start> Control Panel> User Accounts> Then to your account> Then to "create password
To learn more just go to Start> Control Panel> User Accounts> Then on the left side of the screen you will see a question mark in small box next to "user accounts". Click on that and then go down to "Learn more about User Accounts".

Go to Drive where you stored windows, click Documents and Settings and click your user name and click properties and select the option, prive folder no other user to access it.
This way all your documents under your user name will require your password to connect to...this is for xp users only.

You will have to use third party softwares. Try the following:
