Especially during political season, I let the phone answer.
I don't answer the mobile phone at work or while I drive, I can't drive and talk on the phone so I choose to drive. There are lots of good reasons to let the machine answer.
I answered the phone at home yesterday and got criticized bu a friend, she complained that she just wanted to leave a message and didn't want to talk in person.
I used to think it was rude to let the machine screen the calls but not so much anymore.

Most days I just pick right up unless I have a reason to avoid someone, and then I screen them.

Screen. I love technology. I don't even have to be near my cell phone it just tells me.."you have a call from John Smith" Then I know if it is worth answering.

Digital Answering Machine -- the phones (cell and land line) also display the Caller ID information -- so I don't have to pick things right up.

I screen my calls and let most go to the machine. If I want to talk to someone I'll call them back.

My phone automatically tells me who's calling, so I guess I screen, though I don't intend to.
