How is the problem phrased? Most statistical questions are ok with a 22.8 answer. Like in the US, most families have 2.4 kids... they don't really have .4 of a kid, but that it is an appropriate way to give a stat.

Otherwise, if you just need to know something like "how many times could the car have possibly stopped," then 22.

It would help to know what the problem says and what class and grade you're in. =)

according to general rounding off rules the answer should be 23, however the car did not stop a 23rd time, therefore you could either write 22.8, but if you feel it is incorrect as the car cannot stop 0.8th, then you should write 22 times.

If the question is asking for an estimation then for .5 and above you round up to the next whole number. In your case 23.
If it is not asking for an estimation then leave your answer at 22.8.

I would be tempted to round up to 23 because .8 is greater than .5; but the car really only stopped 22 times and not really made it to completing 23 stops.

So it depends on whether you're supposed to be rounding off answers or whether you're supposed to be being completely accurate.

23 because your answer is 22.8 you have to round upbecause the.8 is above .5 anything below .5 would mean you round down to get the closest rounded answer, anything above you round up, so your answer is definatly 23

hope that helps

Normally, anything past .5 you round up BUT in this case, the truth is, the car did NOT stop a 23rd time. I would go with 22.

23. If the decimal place is 5 or about, you round up. Example 15.6 rounded would be 16.

If the decimal place is below 5, you keep the number you have. Example 17.4 would just be 17.
Hope this helps!
