A civil lawsuit is a case between two or more private parties.

A criminal lawsuit involves the suspected party(defendant) vs the State. Usually they broke the law like burglary, drugs, etc. A civil lawsuit usually involves someone suing someone else for money.

Criminal lawsuit means you are the criminal and you're seeking justice. Civil lawsuit means means you're just a person seeking justice without breaking the law.
