Don't mess with lotion or regular chap stick. A main ingredient in most chap sticks is also the reason they stay chapped and dry up.....its called petrolatum. The kinds that don't have it are GNC brand chap stick and Burt's Bees brand chap sticks. SERIOUSLY the Honey flavor Burt's bees is the only kind I use and its wonderful! You can get it at any Walgreen's or other drugstore. Skip the lotion and do your lips a favor.

No lotion won't make them softer. But the Burt's bees is awsome.I am a firm belivier in their products. For chapped lipstheir chap stick with honey is great. This summer I went to the beach it was windy and my lips got chapped. At work my lips looked like I was losing them completely.I got the chapstick and the next day you never would have known that ever happened. They make them soft also. The lip shimmers are good also.

I do that all the time if I'm too lazy to go and get my chapstick. It feels really nice and soft for a few minutes, but then you'll need some more very quickly. I use Burt's Bees from CVS.

This may sound odd, but I use Bag Balm on my lips or if I have a particularly dry patch of skin. It is usually used on cow utters to prevent infection or tattoos to prevent infection. It clears up any dry skin and makes my lips super soft! You can buy it several places, but I bought it at Pet Smart.

I would use the same moisturizer as my face [apply at the same time as your face, not as lip balm]. Other than lipstick [new one by L'Oreal;Colour Riche lmt. ed. shade #311 "Some Like it Scarlett" is Awesome! It's like lip stain.] I just use lip balm. If you break out in chapped lips though, ditch the lip balm you're using and get a new one....I don't know, it works for me. Just try to be aware of which lipsticks make your lips dry out and go for ones that don't.
