Books can become "friends" to us when they serve to keep us company and accomplish other useful ends such as educate, amuse, inform, convince, motivate, or even change our perspectives in life. They are always there when we need them.

Imagine a friend who is available 24-7-365, who offers you wisdom and humor and knowledge and insight every time you are together. Imagine a friend who will curl up with you in any spot and give you all these things, and who will never die.

Imagine a friend who waits for you all the time to share, and who doesn't mind repeating a story as often as you want to hear.

That is a book!!!

What? Books are awesome friends! How many of your human friends let you quote their every word so that you can do your homework while only requiring that you write their name on the last page of the assignment? Or better yet, with how many of your human friends would your teacher find this acceptable? Books are awesome.

You can always borrow money from a book, hang out at bars with a book, watch movies with a book, e-mail your book and chat about daily events, call your book on the phone, etc....

Book are our friends by teaching us, entertaining us, never putting us down but will tell us like it is when we are doing it wrong. They will not leave us but when we put them aside they just wait there for us to pick them up again :) They keep us company when we are alone.

They let us dream, give us inspiration, make us learn, tell us how to act, give us reason; and they never will hurt us. That is how books are our friends.
