It probably depends on where you live and what the religious makeup of your community is. Local news tends to target the demographics that are most likely to watch their programming and buy the products advertised.

Why do u think that the catholic feast day is more important than eid or diwali. Catholicism is dwindling, hence why people don't want to bother reporting about their fictional days
