I hope there are serious answers to this, but I know we will get the typical: Bush is a lier, or Clinton is a nympho. Seriously though shouldnt we, both sides of the political aisle, respect the office of the president no matter who holds it? We can disagree with policy while still repecting the blessed instituion that the framers of the Constitution gave us.

believe it or not, but I was very much against disrespecting clinton while he was in office. I thought it was more important to be respectfull of his position, than to make a public mockery out of it. Believe me, it was hard to do.

I guess i have since been desensitized by all the anti-bush stuff, that I no longer feel that way about clinton.

Absolutely agree with you. I won't say that Clinton was a nympho, but from what I understand he had little to no respect for the office of president. Wearing sweats to the oval office, vandalizing the White House before W moved in etc. I honestly believe Bush is trying to restore respect and integrity to the office. The office of the President of the United States should be repected at all times, no matter who holds the title.

I think we truley stopped respecting the office of the president because in order to run for an office such as this you need to have an enormous amount of money. And how do you get an enourmous amount of money you ask; You take bribes from the highest bidder. Our president is bought of by Oil Companies, Medical Product companies and other big buisness and when they actually get into office they vote for bills that destroy our environment for oil or vote to increase healthcare cost, etc. So I say can you respect somone who sells you out to the highest bidder and costs you more while making already wealthy companies even more money off of us?

Whoa, first spell liar, respecting, institution properly, second the word nympho can only be applied to women.
Bush is not the United States, the people who vote are.
And you are disrespecting us with your errors in orthography just like Bush when he addresses us using the wrong grammar and cutting short his sentences, ugh, ugh, ugh that have lost their relevance. He uses more ugh and thes in his speeches, I can't listen to an ignoramus any longer. No respect received, no respect given.

First came Nixon who embarrassed the country with his lying and crooked tricks. Then came Clinton with his sex scandals and now good old Bush with his "uhhhhs" and "ahhhhs" and lying to the American public. However, ALL presidents lie at one time or another, or at least stretch the truth. They have to I suppose. The only guy who most always told it the way it is was Harry Truman. He didn't take crap from anyone and told it right to the person's face.

Of course we should respect the Presidency, but we should also remember that whomever occupies the Oval Office - Democrat or Republican - is responsible to the people of this country and that their role is bounded by the constitution. When a President attempts to infringe on the other branches of government and oversteps their constitutional role, it is an affront to the Presidency itself.

It's a shame that the world remembers the mistakes of past and present Presidents, and not the good they did for their country and the world. No matter what, I still strongly believe that the United States is truly a great country. It's people, it's constitution and what it stands for, and it's leaders are all great things to be respected and admired.

We stopped respecting it when someone took office that wasn't worthy of respect. Our president doesn't respect the people he proports to lead. He considers himself (and he has been quoted on this) a father leading a child.

The office is not what garners respect. We as Americans elect our officials to represent us. Bush is not a king, therefore, is subject to the people - not the other way around.

It is hard to hold respect for this president....you can see it in the faces of the people who voted for him, they are now questioning his actions or lack of actions. Whether it's president Bush ot Walmart....money and power is what matters and most of America pretend not to see it.

for me...when bush stole his way into office.....bush does not deserve respect...."President of the United States" is only a title, what matters more is the man behind the title...and bush don't cut it!
