I'm 21 years old, so my period is pretty normal. But its 3 weeks before I should even start again, and I've been cramping for a few days. Plus, my discharge seems to have increased. Its not smelly or weird colored and I'm not itchy or anything. Plus I'm married and monogamous. Is my cycle just off, or could something else be causing untimely cramping and discharge? Thanks!

Could be off, happens now and then. My husbands' grandmother use to say that every 7 years your body changes. *shrug* I don't know if that's true. . .

Are you possibly pregnant? If it happens again next month I'd make an appointment to see a gyne. I didn't have a gyne until I was married (21 as well). I needed to find one becuase of a particular problem. Turned out to be a rare yeast infection. .. doesn't seem to apply to you. But still, a dr may be able to find something that can help you. Good luck!

Women often have their cycle thrown off by stress, pressure at work, with family etc...
Is there a chance you could be pregnant?
I would not worry about your discharge as long as it is does not have an odor or an odd color like brown to red (signs of blood).
I would take a couple Tylenol for the cramping. And wait an see how you feel with in the next couple days. If your cramping gets really painful, or the color or odor of your discharge changes. I would make an appointment with your OB/GYN. If it was an infection you would have a yellowish colored discharge and/or a mild to strong odor. If you were having a miscarriage your discharge would have the brownish/red tinge to it.

What is a typical menstrual period like?
During the menstrual period, the thickened uterine lining and extra blood are shed through the vaginal canal. A woman's period may not be the same every month, and it may not be the same as other women's periods. Periods can be light, moderate, or heavy, and the length of the period also varies. While most menstrual periods last from three to five days, anywhere from two to seven days is considered normal. For the first few years after menstruation begins, periods may be very irregular. They may also become irregular in women approaching menopause. Sometimes birth control pills are prescribed to help with irregular periods or other problems with the menstrual cycle.

How bad were the cramps? You should go to the doc to make sure you didn't have a miscarriage. My friend just had a miscarriage and she had discharge for a few days after the miscarriage. Not saying that is what is is but it is better safe than sorry.

Call your gyn. and get an appointment if this lasts longer than a few days. It's probably nothing, but, better safe than sorry.
Good Luck

I would go to see a doctor if you have discharge that's not timely.
