start with yourself. How do you want others to relate to you and to treat you? That will set the standard, for what you sow is what you reap. Don't wait for others to change. Start by doing it yourself. do not announce it to the world that you're changing. Just do it and wait, for it is a process. Eventually others will notice it and their attitude towards you will also change! I can vouch for this.

Before doing something think what u doing, Before speaking something to someone think if someone had done with u the same thing than how would u think.
it seems to be stupidly sound but its works. try to do this one time in a day and u will progress.

My wife and I have endured complaints about 'our attitudes' withotu any specific explanation at work for years. I am too soft, too conservative, too unforgiving, too family-oriented, not fun enough, not serious enough, too assertive, too formal, too rude, too this, too that. Ask for an example, an opinion or a description and you get nothing. No explanations or descriptions. Never is there a specific answer to my question.

I figure nobody keeps a job, gets raises, bonuses and promotions to supervisor at Subway, management at a seafood restaurant years ago, appointment of head waiter and dining room supervisor, head of housekeeping on the floor, etc. if they don't deserve it. Not that we are bragging but the hospitality industry is full of shitty managers, mostly male, who have ideas about women fifty years back and a lousy, dollar-driven style of management.

I cannot get into all the times there were problems:

No overtime on paycheques;
Late paycheques;
Unlawful withholding of pay;
Illegal increases in rent in staff accom;
Requirements to clean up someone's mess;
No schedule posted night before new week of shifts begins again;
Verbal abuse;
assault against myself excused;
harassment by others against my wife excused;
orders to work on days off;
no say in schedule;
withholding of vacation pay;
no unions or contracts;
Mr. Hire and Fire types;
high staff turnovers;
nepotism;
sexism;
racism;
milking business for money;
illegal business practices;
lack of sanitation and proper food care procedure;
illegal bankruptcy claim not based on actual economic performance of the ski resort;
ripped-off bonuses;
theft excused and rampant in workplace;
pornography displayed;
people showing up late constantly, high, in pyjamas, on drugs and not showing up for work and keeping their jobs while we had to pick up the slack;
laziness;
lack of experience and no natural ability or adequate training to make up for this.
etc.
