Take the Installation C.D and then remove the cable of the printer from the C.P.U then replug then insert the C.D. in the C.D drive and then get start installation in the mean time switch on the printer and if the printer get detected then no problem if not please check the port and if U are unable to detect what is the problem then call for the engineer or the technical support if U R computer is the company Computer.

You have to install USB drivers for Win98, check out USB cables. If everything is ok, then when you connect printer with USB, it should identify the new hardware

Epson are POS get a HP there a lot better quality. Oh and it might be time to upgrade your operating system too, no one uses 98 any more.
