If your talking of Variables, you can't multiply the two if they have different exponents, but if they are you simply add them.
Ex. (x^2)(4x^2) = 5x^2
(x^3)(2x) = (x^3)(2x)
Regarding Constants or numbers, you still need to get the exponents before multiplying them
Ex. (9^2)(2^2)=85
Hope I helped You!

Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
P-arenthesis, E-xponents, M-ultiplication, D-ivision, A-ddition, S-ubtraction
In that order. Also known as the order of operations. Do what is in the parenthesis first, then take care of the exponents. Next, either multiplication or division (I think that some expensive calculators do division first), then addition or subtraction (either one first).
