I grew up poor so if we were lucky enought to get a tree we got it the day before @ 50% off and kept it till sometimes the middle of January. But now that I'm grown up I can afford my own, so if i wanted to get it the day after Thanksgiving will it last or will it start turning brown.

If you want one that early, cut your own at a Xmas tree farm and it will last. If you buy one in a parking lot, it will be brittle and needles with drop like crazy within a week because they are actually cut down right about this time of year.

I love Christmas trees and I always have to get a real one. I know it's a waste of a tree but nothing beats the Christmas tree smell. The day after Thanksgiving might be a bit early but by first or second week of Decemeber they should definitely have them. The tree will last until Christmas as long you keep it watered. Also put Christmas tree food into the water (they normally give it to you a packet or two when you buy the tree). My tree usually lasts until after New Year's.

Personally, I'm for getting a fake one. They make them look so realistic now anyway, and you don't have to take out viable trees.

I'm not sure when you can start getting them from the tree farms, but you can do one better and check with your state forestry service to see when they allow for tree cutting. I know that most of the time, they'll let a certain number of marked trees be cut down since they are fire hazards and such (at least where I live, I'm sure elsewhere too) and would be cut down anyway.

Good luck whatever your choice!

Well sotallytoberqtpie is right about the time. Plus get the tree from a tree farm. Not one a commerical place where it has been cut for a while. I mean you can try but most places I have seen usually open farms the first Friday in December.

If you keep it watered and away from heat vents, it could last through Christmas. But no guarantees. Why not buy a fake tree. There are some real good one on the market these days
