Do you think that the USA is acting more like a imperialist empire than a democracy? Do you think we should be trying to go out and conquer new lands for our empire? Please feel free to include what country you are in, (if USA if you are democrat or republican)

I am afraid we are and we should not be.

No. I think we're taking care of business. Because much of the rest of the cowardly world is too afraid to.

Yes that's almost 1 billion people, over the last 60 years, given freedom or feedom was preserved and are still living free thanks to the so called Evil Imperialist Empire of the United States of America. (give or take 35 million)
People want freedom and America gives it.

I would like to include the 3,874,050 people of Lebanon. However, even though we forced Syria to leave that country they still do not yet have total freedom.

Is imperialism a bad thing. By definition we are imperialist yes. But by definition imperialism is any country that practices influence over another country whether it be through indirect or direct means. Even cultural influence such influencing other countries through our strictly our ideas such as many countries that have now become democracies through only our shared ideas such as many that heve already been mentioned. Influencing other coutries through negotiations or economics such as we have done with China is also imperialism even though we did not directly intervene through military force. In short anytime we act in our own interest our espouse freedom through simply ideas it is imperialism. As the US encouraged a free and open internet, and still does for the most part, we are acting as imperialist by definition. Why should we not influence others to be more open and free. As to the use of force we use less than any other country in history. Are we perfect no but that does not make us wrong or bad. AS you are trying to debate Iraq I will say Saddam's repeated violations of a ceasefire agreement gave us plenty of grounds to depose him and in my mind Bush's use of WMD's as his strongest argument was faulty. Although in truth Saddam himself disclosed a large inventory and then never gave proof of there destruction. He also kicked out weapons inspectors quite odd for someone with nothing to hide and knowing the consequences. Perhaps the strongest argument in my mind was one Clinton should have addressed because the circumstances where impossible for Bush to addres. I am of course reffering to Saddam's attempt to asassinate a former president what country would have allowed that to go without a major response.

I think you are right. But I am afraid many are not up to the level of that realization.
