Neither one is 100% guaranteed, so if you are going to be having sex and don't want to get pregnant, it would be a good idea to use both!

It is always best to use a backup method when having sex because hopefully you know that abstinence (not having sex at all) is the only 100% way to prevent pregnancy. It's great that you use condoms and proper use should prevent pregnancy the majority of the time. The pill does have some side effects so you could always try it and then stop if you didn't like it but always use condoms.

condoms are not always 100% safe, the pill is 99% safe against pregnancy. BUT, the pill will not protect against diseases so you should always use condoms. Make sure you carry some, don't always leave it up to the guy to provide one. If you are old enough to be sexually active then the pill would be a good idea. Talk to your mum if you can, or a doctor.

The more protection you have, the better. The best protection is abstinance. Don't have sex becuase your friends are. You should not sleep around, it's too dangerous. I used to work at Babies R Us, and there were ALOT of girls there that got pregnant after having sex only one time! Please slow down with the sex thing. It's over rated. One day you'll be able to have all the sex you want, you'll be trying to get pregnant. .. it's all good. You don't need it now.

I would suggest going on the pill as well as a back up. just incase of condom breakage. Just remember if you do go on the pill to use condoms unless you are 120% sure that both of you are seeing nobody but each other, that way you are protected against STDs. I would also get the Vaccination against some lines of HPV. can keep you from getting cervical cancer.

If your not sure about your feelings about sex / pregnancy then inaction is the best course of action.
However, prior to marriage I always used 2 forms of birth control. I was on Depo (I didn't like the Pill) and my lover always wore a condom.

sorry, i had to put in my two cents worth...
condoms are not the panacea that you may think...there are many factors about condoms that need to be addressed....how were they stored in the first place...in his wallet or in the glove box...not good because heat breaks down the latex
what is the expiration date on the condom (yes virgina, there is a date)...did he get the right size...does it fit? did he apply it correctly? yes there are tricks to putting one on...did he withdraw his penis right after ejaculating so as not to go soft in you and leave the condom inside your vagina increasing the risk of leakage (cause it only takes one sperm to get you preggie) did he apply the condom before foreplay (or anytime before his penis could come in contact with your vagina, because penis' leak when you get exicted (especially if he is new...to sex) did you use a lubricant? KY jelly is the only approved one because ANY petroleum based lubricant will cause the latex to dissolve leaving you with condom pieces and sperm in your vagina...or...did he use the "natural" one that are lambs intestines that can allow some STD's to migrate through and infect you or V V if you are infected
the pill is not a panacea as well...if you smoke and take the pill, you could get blood clots and croak if they go to your lungs or through the atria and travel through to the brain...or cause period problems like bleeding too much, too little or not at all...did you forget to take one, one day...
tips to think about...if there is a mistake, are you prepared to be a mommy? are you willing to put you foot down and make him wear a rubber everytime and not take no for an answer because he will say it feels funny, I do not want to quit right after i cumm, yada yada yada...guys will try anything for a piece...i know I was there 34 years ago when i was 16. ++++are you ready for the chance of getting an STD? condoms do not protect you against all STD's...only those that travel with semen...you also have to think about herpes, genital warts...condylomata...and if the rubber should break while he is doing the deed....HIV?, trichomonas, gonorrhea, syphilus, plus any other assortment of diseases...
try this, give him a hand job, and let him perform oral sex until you are prepared to make this major jump in your life.
also, boys talk about girls that they have laid...are you ready to be known as the 'girl who put out'?
how about respect?
good luck!

I would say that it is up to you. Condoms are great at prevented unwanted pregnancy when used properly. However they are not 100% so you want to talk to your Doctor about other forms of birth control as well.
