The leaders of the country tell us that its terrorism. The terrorist tell us its america. Democrats say republicans and republicans say democrats. Religions tell us that its non-believers. Right now, there are people in the world who hate us because we are americans. We are in a war, whether you agree with it not, that has become a disaster. Our natural resources are going to run out eventually and our enviroment is being destroyed. Iran and N. Korea either have or are developing nuclear technology. So the question is, what is the greatest problem the world is facing, and what needs to happen in order for the world to overcome the problem?

Good answers everybody. Im gonna leave this question open for a while, but here is my take on the thing so far. Everyone in the world is a hypocrite. Even me. We blame the government, but we dont vote and even if we do, honestly, is that enough? Or should we do even more to bring about change, like volunteer for the canidates we think should win? People say america should mind our business, but yet when something happens, they beg us for money and support. Not to mention the last two times america was an isolationist nation, world wars 1 and 2 broke out. We talk about the enviroment, but we throw cigarette butts on the ground and drive SUV's. The pope quotes someone that said muslims are violent, and they say that they arent by protesting and killing a nun that had nothing to do with it. And dont message me saying that YOUR not a hypocrite, because everyone is. Even me. Im guilty. So, tell me this: Without blaming everyone else, what needs to happen to fix the mess?

systems of human hierarchy, which include systems of human segregation. Money based systems which do not necessarily reward hard work but are great incentives for corruption and oppression...selfishness, apathy, and mis/uneducation.

The world is a cesspool of very complex problems. If we were to try and tackle them all at once, we would become overwhelmed and blow a fuse.

I personally think the greatest problem the world presently faces is Islamic fanaticism. They have made their demands and objectives very clear:
You will convert to Islam......or you will die.

Death to all who would question their beliefs.

Death to all infidels.

Their tactics have not been condemned by the "peaceful and tolerant" majority of Muslims - and that, to me, indicates an underlying support or, at best, apathy concerning the terrorists' objectives - and that's pretty scary considering the number of Muslims in the world.

For all intents and purposes, they have already defeated Spain, and France isn't far behind. And the allies who have set withdrawal dates are playing right into the terrorists' plans.

Their tactics of terror and the indiscriminate murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children cannot be rewarded with any kind of victory.
It seems the United States is the only real hurdle they must overcome - and we are divided and not resolute in our commitment - and the enemy knows it.

This is the "greatest problem the world faces" - and it isn't being recognized for the serious threat that it truly is.

I disagree. Philosophers have raised many complicated questions--what's the worldwide like? How can we know it? How could we stay? How could we prepare ourselves. Philosophy additionally grants ideas. It does so via making use of objective and good judgment to the predicament and finding for an answer. "Philosophy: Who needs It?" via Ayn Rand is an great essay speaking approximately what philosophy is, why that's essential, and why each physique needs to hire it. Religions make assertions, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that there is room for question to an quantity. All concepts have an inner middle and outer, peripheral innovations. The peripherals can continually be questioned and the two altered or discarded without affecting the interior middle. working example, a individual can question how a ritual will would desire to be carried out or how a congregation will would desire to be cautioned, and would gain this without affecting the interior middle of ideals very plenty. the interior middle likely are actually not waiting to be questioned at the instant, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that some aspects would additionally be altered rather if the peripheral innovations substitute extensively adequate, and then maximum effective over an prolonged path of time. The history of "heresies" that arose interior the church is one occasion of this, wherein apparently-middle innovations have been challenged on the start questioned peripheral innovations.

Well, the morality in the world definitely could use some sprucing up. Other than that, politicians telling the truth and Iran and N. Korea need to knock off their nuclear crap. It's not helping anyone to know that these people are obviously planning to use these weapons. You don't buy a deer rifle to let it sit in your closet, let's be realistic here. And the whole war thing is, to me, a big mess. But I do think it has positively helped in some ways. Love the troops, hate the war. Period.

Intolerance is the worlds greatest problem. We need to learn to embrace adversity. The golden rule would sure make a great rule to follow when dealing with other people, nations, religions...

My personal belief is that soon we will face the breakdown of morality, law and order, the traditional family. The world will suffer great natural disasters and we will be forced to depend on each other....

peace

I'm thinking that there can't be anything good to say about nuclear technology being developed by so called rouge nations. Diplomacy and sanctions might help to diffuse the situation.

The most immediate problem is nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists, or rogue nations.

Global warming could be a threat in 20-30 years.

I agree with your assesment about our natural resources running out.

Corrupt politicians, and world hunger/poverty
There are so many things wrong with our world
Finding the solutions may be impossible.
I think the greatest problem stems from greed. If politicians spent more time actually trying to fix the problem rather than how they can profit from it maybe we'd all be better off.

A bigger problem would be if we didn't have any problems... problems exist because we are humans and we have the human gift of cognitive thinking and making choices. No one problem is greater than any other problem it is all relative. I'd rather live in a world filled with complexity and problems, than a boring utopia.
