my bf and i broke up a week ago...he broke up with my because he was tired of fighting over stupid things and he said that i always made him late.
well we would have been 3 years in december together but it's too late now.
we arent screaming or fighting on the phone were just talking like were friends. i want to ask him to do something this weekend but i'm terrified to ask because i dont want to get hurt if he says no.
i think if we talk on the phone okay we would be okay to hang out together.
what should i do? i don't want to go through life wondering "what if" because i think if we did become friends we might realize how much we miss each other and MAY decide to get back together. BUT if we do it wouldn't be serious and i would deal with it and so would he.

If you WERE to hang out with him, how would you feel? Truly? I'm banking on the fact that you'd end up hurting even more. When you say "deal with it"........that says A LOT.
Its difficult to be true friends with someone you still love. He broke up with you for a reason, and as stupid as it seems, he was probably looking for an excuse to leave the relationship. Take a break from even talking to him for awhile- if he loves you the way you deserve to be loved, he will call and want to work things out. Trust me- I've been there, done that, and have felt like a fool. Even resorting to sleeping with him when he called to tell me he loved me/wanted me back. Sad truth? Next day, he was gone again.
Do yourself a favor, and find someone who loves you enough to work through the "stupid fights" and "being late". PLEASE.

If you still have strong feelings for him and hope to get together again, you need to give him some time off. Don't call him and definitely don't ask him out. If he calls you, be friendly, but don't sound desperate to see him again. Be friends if thats what he wants. The idea is to let him sees you in a different light than that of a bitching vixen. Remember you pushed him away with the fighting, you ought to convince him things could be different by being nice and civilized.
But in no way should you beg him to take you back. If anything, it will only push him away further. If things doesn't turn out the way you'd hoped for then maybe it's time to accept that it's over between the two of you. Then you should move on. Good luck anyway!

well hunny i am not really sure what kind of an answer you want, but i would have to say in my own opinion talking on the phone and being around each other in person are completely two different things. you could always try it though it would never hurt. If you have strong feelings it might work out, then do it. If you have any doubt what so ever , then it will turn out to be a lost cause. hope that can help at all. well just ask him to hang out. If you do end up going back out then you know what you did wrong so you can fix it. Do not worry about stupid things and agrue about it. When in a relationship you pick your battles to fight about. It kinda sounds like you are better off has friends. So it is ok to ask him if he wants to hang out just make sure he knows it is just as friends do not act to desprate try the friends thing out for awile and see what happens and how it goes.

Realize that it's over, he broke up with you for a reason and he is looking for other girls. You need to do the same, look for another guy and quit talking to that one. It will suck for a long time but the sooner you find someone new, the quicker you will heal.

I suggest you break clean, don't ask him to go anywhere with you, if you have to have someone go, ask someone else, don't talk on the phone with him simply move on. Move on with your life and quit trying to second guess things.
