I'm going to be taking the A+ hardware exam next week and then the OS exam a few weeks after that.

You may want to think about taking the self-test exams. I've used http://www.stsware.com in the past, as my husband has as well. We are both in IT, and have found them to be very good. They also sell training, but we've used their self-test software before each of our exams with success.

well really there are those few parts you have to study and memorize like IRQ's but the rest is pretty basic. If you know how to build a computer already then you should be fine. As far as the OS exam, you'll have to know where a few things are located in your start menu. There's isn't a whole lot I can say, just read through your books, if you pretty much know the basics of hardware and the OS systems you'll be fine but there of course are those few odd questions for things you should have memorized so read back through it. I'd really suggest taking some practice tests.
