The Yankees... Yes Definatly a silver spoon buy your way to the top kind of team...
The Mets on the other hand... no series wins since 86' and the fans have become so accustomed to loosing that they make excueses before they even loose!! This year with Omar The Mets have worked very hard to get to the point they did, but unfortunatly injuries killed there game... (another fan bubble burst) they built a team perfectly ballanced with vets and rookies with great potential (not all super-star status players that are overpaid and under-played) and the fans stand behind them no matter what... that is definatly one thing you can say about met fans... they are resiliant in good and bad times!

Yes and no, mainly yes for the Yankees.
Do not go after the mets too much, they have built a really good team, which was not about the biggest names (beltran biggest deal - wright and reyes coming up), Lo duca and delgado are good everyday players, hardly the most expensive players out there.
The mets clubhouse is one of the best in baseball, and although the cardinals played great, if Glavine had not had the health scare, pedro played, and hernadez was fit, I think that series would have gone the other way..
The yankees club is all about winning and not having fun. The mets have a good team and are abot winning while having fun, and you can see that when they play. The players get on, the coaches and players get on well.
I do not think the Mets are about buying a championship, I think they are finally comitting the resources and energy needed to win.
The yankees of the late 90's are dead, and its remarkable, because that team was brilliant, and the ownership sold out on those ideals, and for nothing, and it will be that way while they continue to operate like they do now.

The Yankees obviously have the biggest payroll and are one of the storied historic baseball organizations like the Dodgers, Giants, Cubs, Cardinals, Red Sox, etc. They definitely have an advantage...but they're proof you can't buy World Championships.
The Mets had some awful management for years...Steve Phillips (who's on ESPN now and does some really average, at best, baseball analysis) really ruined the Mets. Phillips' opinion really isn't to be respected. He can't GM anymore. No one wants him, that's why he's on ESPN. ESPN shouldn't want him anymore either, quite frankily. Him and Steve Stone drove me insane...I got off subject.

It's been great to see those teams getting beat lately. It shows that a good all-around team can beat money.

they have 2 of the 3 higest pay rolls in the MLB the other one is the bo sox (i think) the yanks and mets problems is that they have no chemistry. you put those many names to gether and you have dueling egos thus you loose, in addition if one of your big guns goes down you may not have the cash left to replace him. the cards and white sox keys to seccsess where deep talented benches.
