My doctor told me I had an abnormal pap and there were "precancerous cells". He said they would do a colposcopy and if needed a biopsy on my cervix. They did both and I havent gotten my results back, but has anyone else had this done? Is it checking for cancer or could it be something simple? Can it affect the baby at all (the test or cancer)??

I also had an abnormal pap while i was pregnant and had a colposcopy done but they wouldnt do the biopsy while i was pregnant, they refused because they said messing with my cervix while i was pregnant could result in miscarriage.
After i had the baby i had the biopsy, turned out there was nothing wrong with me. According to my doc, abnormal paps are pretty common.

I've has a colposcopy (ouch!) and cone biopsy (double ouch!)
They did mine to remove the "precancerous cells" and then they check them for cancer. it seems really weird that they would do it while you are pregnant. it seems highly invasive and like it might cause problems with cervical competancy.

Lots of women have abnormal paps during pregnancy. The most common reson is dysplasia, which is when the inner calls are found on the outside of the cervix.

I had the same tests done and I feel the pain about the waiting. I do not see as that the tests could effect your baby, as there were no chemicals or anything. If you do have cancer then that can effect your child. But I would stay positive I had sever precancerous cells and they did a LEEP procedure. That is where they take a electric scalpel and burn off the damaged cells, and that probably not hurt your child but it is something to talk about with your doctor.

If ur no longer with the daddy then its no great deal. remember, a father isn't the guy who gets u pregnant. Its the guy there for u in the process being pregnant and the youngster after beginning.
