change them both into improper fractions
so 3 1/3=10/3 and 2 5/6=17/6
get a common denominator in this case 6
so multiply 10 by 2 and 3 by 2 to get 20/6

now you have 20/6-17/6
20-17=3 so the answer would be 3/6 or 1/2

31/3 - 2 5/6
2 5/6 = 17/6 (u multiply the denominator-6 with the whole number-2 and add the result wid the numerator- 5)
so, 31/3 - 17/6
31x2/3x2 ( both the denominators shud be equal)
so, 62/6 - 17/6
45/6 or 7 1/2

first,make it into an improper fraction for 2 5/6
1=6/6, so 2=12/6, 12/6+5/6=17/6
second, find the lowest common multiple,
3=1*3 6=2*6 ,so 6 is the answer
Third, 31/3=62/6
Fourth, 62/6-17/6=45/6
