Almost every single book by Lurlene McDaniel. Her books are so inspiring and they are about situations that are actually possible. They can bring out the sympathy in almost anyone and make people consider being kinder to people who may not be able to control the way they look or act. I think that she tries hard to tell people about the fact that it is okay to have problems as long as you react with an acceptable attitude.

I've read Alain de Botton's "The Consolations of Philosophy" and "How Proust Can Change Your Life". Both are readable and understandable books aimed at those interested in philosophy and biography in relation to applicable practice in daily life. They're also illustrated with related pictures which are quite rare for the genre.
His "Status Anxiety" is also superb with witty remarks.

I didn't read this recently, but it is probably one of the finest works ever written by a human. This book affects you decades after you read it.

It is "The Consolation of Philosophy" by Boethius.

He wrote it just before he was clubbed to death by Theodoric, King of the Goths. It's amazingly poetic and uplifting, and a damn good read from a great man.

Well, I don't know if this was motivational or inspiring, but a book that impacted me greatly was Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer (not sure of last name spelling). It was sobering. Other than that, the Bible kicks butt.
