As a Democrat, I am embarrassed by the words of John Kerry. He needs to get in front of a tv camera, and apologize.

Then he needs to go to Iraq, and apologize to the troops.

Not sure why he would. In the big picture I would say it would be more apropriate for George Bush to go. He is the one making politcal hay out of this stupid thing.

Please go to the link below. It ain't just Democrats.
The fact is there are several Republican saying they know what Kerry was trying to say was a joke about Bush being dumb. Here is a link to the transcripts from the Chris Mathews show.

Read the Dick Armey quotes. No friend of the Democrats. Very revealing.

The best quote I read about the whole thing was in another article. "Is the White House too stupid to know he was making a joke about them being stupid"

Who really cares what John Kerry says anyway. Does that have anything to do with anyone you're voting for? The Republicans want to get everyone fired up over this to take away from the issues. It's pretty sleazy politics and both sides do it

Well, considering that what he said wasn't really directed at the troops, I think his explanation is good enough, but if people are STILL upset after being told that what he meant to say was "If you study hard, etc...you'll do well. If not, you'll get (us) stuck in Iraq." Meaning the PRESIDENT is an example of what can happen if you don't study hard, NOT the troops, then yes he should apologize. And when can we expect the President to go over there and apologize for putting the troops in harm's way without being sufficiently armored and armed? Why aren't the Republicans outraged about THAT? Yet, they say they care so much. But a verbal slip-up is worse, THAT'S unforgivable? Give me a break! I'm sure that if the troops could choose between an apology from Kerry, or adequate armament from the Bush administration, they would choose the latter. Sad thing is, they are much more likely to see Kerry's apology.

The Republican Party needs to go to Iraq and apologize to the troops. They knew full well that Kerry was calling Bush stupid and not the troops. But they jumped on his wording and made it a political circus. John Kerry had no intention of insulting the troops. He did intend on insulting the President who was not man enough to take it so dumped it off on the troops as usual.

Kerry went to war and served his country. Bush couldn't complete his training in the national guard. Cheney said that he was too busy.

Now when Kerry admits that he made a mistake trying to joke about how the repub war machine makes its millions on the backs of those that don't go to college, somehow he is the bad guy? Kerry made a stupid comment, but at least he is qualified to make comments about being in the military and the treatment of those that serve.

The Bush/Cheney/Haliburton war machine is responsible for the deaths of how many US Troops? Even worse, how many Iraqis (somewhere between 30K and 600K depending on which estimates you read) - all in a place that had nothing to do with 9/11 and didn't have WMD. And know John Kerry is the bad guy for saying something stupid? Right.....

Why? If you looked at where the military recruits new soldiers, it is economically depressed, blue collar areas where teenage boys have only three choices to 'get ahead' -crime, crime and crime. They are uneducated, unsophisticated, and the government promises them three squares a day, nice clean, bright shiny uniforms, and even college after they do their stint. So yeah, Kerry was right, get educated, get some intelligence or you will end up in Iraq. I mean, are the Bush girls there? No. Are Rumsfelds grandkids there? No. Are Cheneys kids or grandkids there? No. That is because they all have money and someone in their family is smart enough not to send their kinds to the Russian Roulette Wheel of Death called Iraq.

Yeah, he should apologize in Iraq to the troops, and then hand the microphone over to W. who can apologize to the troops for sending them into a danger zone with no strategy, no clue, and no hope for resolution.

Apologize for what? Kerry isn't the president...even though the majority voted for him.

"Will John Kerry go to Iraq to directly apologize to the troops?"

No.

Kerry is ignorant, pompous, egotistical and misguided - but he's not THAT stupid.

Most of the troops in Iraq are armed.
