It seems like a ACUTE LYMPHADENITIS to me as you must have been able to differentiate a ‘sore bump’ from a boil or an abscess and would have known what to do. Acute lymphadenitis does have various reasons for its genesis, and the most common being an infection down the leg (which may be trivial also), and the STDs. Best is to get him see his own doctor for it, for it will require a clinical examination and if needed then a few blood tests would have to be performed. Anyways a course of antibiotics will settle this issue. If you can encourage him to use a condom, it will protect you till such time he is cleared by his doctor.

Sounds like a boil to me, these occur when a hair follicle becomes infected with staphylococcus bacteria, there is a product called Black Salve which causes the core of the boil to rise to the top, or you should get him to see his doctor and have it lanced. Given time though it will usually always "head up " and rupture on it's own but given the area you describe it is in, I would consult a Doctor.

it would be highly advisable to see a doctor, such swellings in the groin, under arms and in the neck could be a sign of infections, these are glands that swell up to stop infections from spreading

It could be ingrown hair...it really depends on how big it is too. I think the best thing to do is to bring him to see a doctor. I hope everything will get better for you.

It could just be fatty tissue But be sure to show the doctor it. Don't want to scare you but it could mean cancer. If he's under 30 its pretty rare to get it though. Check it out though!

it could be an ingrown hair, an abcess, a bump from his legs rubbin against his pants when he walks. i wouldnt be that concerned that its an std but i would have him get it looked at because an ingrown hair can get infected, and a abcess could get painful and worse ( my bf had one and had to have it surgically drained)

It could be an allergic reaction, or it could be cancer, hey, it could even be an in-grown hair, but whatever it could be, i'd get him to go to the doctor to check it out sooner rather than later if i were you.
