I am a Canadian. I am a tourist. Tokyo will be my start point of my Japan trip.
Is is really true that it is cheaper to get JR rail pass in Canada than in Japan? How much is the difference in my case? Thanks!

The JR Rail Pass is supposed to be available only outside of Japan. You should get the rail pass that is good for all of Japan.

The Eastern Japan rail pass serves Tokyo, but does not allow you to travel to Kyoto. You may have to call around different travel agencies and ask if they know how to obtain the JR Rail Pass voucher. Once you have the voucher, you exchange it for the actual pass when you are in Japan. The valid period for the pass is inclusive of the day you activiate it.
Have fun travelling Japan.

Yo do mean the JR pass with un limited travel for 7 days at like $300-$400???

I did the same thing that u r going to do about 3 weeks ago. I was on a school trip but we got the application form in Australia (where i live) and picked up the tickets in tokyo. I dont know about the payments but it was $300 AUD and it was paid in Australia.

It is the best thing to use. But u cant use the Subways as that does cover the ticket.

You get the ticket from Tokyo station (Tokyoo Eki) somewhere near one of the entries to the station. Its a big place.

Hope u enjoy and dont get fussed for the Shinkansen as its not as good as people make it out to be. Its fun and enjoyable but not as people make it out to be!

Enjoy Japan!

it isn't a challenge, except possibly contained in the prepare stations and getting to the right music with the stroller. lots of the more effective stations have elevators. I commute utilising the JR Rail pass, and it really is large! sure, it really is going to be good till the best of the day on the Sunday you suggested. There are not any particular prepare automobiles for toddlers. I continually improve and get the "eco-friendly automobile" pass. as far because the stroller and luggage, you are able to placed those in the back of the ultimate row of seats contained in the motorized vehicle you experience in. Smaller products can go up over your head. i'd recommend a small stroller! there is not that a lot room, and the storage is first come, first served. as far as lodges, I usually stay in very effective ones. maximum cities have good lodges correct by technique of (or connected to) the prepare station. Nagoya Station has a good Marriott ($100 thirty). Kyoto Station has inn Granvia ($100 ninety). Tokyo is a lot tougher, because it relies upon what area of the city you stay in. I usually stay in Shinjuku, on the Century Hyatt ($225). For sight-seeing, maximum lodges furnish bus excursion applications, which I truly recommend. i have achieved them in a lot of Asian cities, and they are secure and informative. you are able to also want to visit Hiroshima and excursion the "Peace Museum," it really is all about the atomic bomb dropping. it really is a marginally humbling adventure for an American! you'll see diverse the geographical area in basic terms vacationing on the trains, even even though it is going by technique of quick. i'm hoping that enables!

You can't buy a JR rail pass in Japan, they are intended only for foreign tourists. In fact they are supposed to check your visa status the first time you use it. The Ordinary pass should be fine, unless you want to spend the extra money just to get a cushier seat in the Green car.
