Don't think it will blow up but I just lost a 13 month old Gateway laptop today. Totally black screen, no lights, no nothing. I am on comp many hours each day, 7 days a week. I am wondering if I just wore it out. Not serious.

Unless you've got one of those dodgy dells whose power supplies were faulty you'll be fine, my laptop stays on 24/7 and its fine. IT gets warm, but thats quite natural of any computer.

If you're worried just turn it off when you're not gonna use it for a long time.

Additionally, I've never once removed the battery, it just sits with the power supply plugged in permanently. All modern laptops have intelligent charging systems to stop the battery being over charged.

Heh. I wouldn't worry about it, just keep it off insulating surfaces. New Apple laptops are most notorious for getting hot, though seldom blowing up ;-)
