Your baby will let you know when it is time to switch from belly to side. I'm a belly sleeper and the only way I could sleep was on my belly, I tried my side and it just didn't work, until my stomach started getting bigger and then it was comfortable on my side. Doesn't make sense that is just how it is.

Do whatever is most comfortable for you...if that mean sleep on your stomach, go right ahead. Eventually it will get uncomfortable, and you won't be able to anyways. It won't hurt your baby, because there is enough cushioning there from the womb and amniotic fluid that he/she won't get squished. It is best to sleep on you left side if possible. The reason for this is because it gives you the best blood flow. If you can do that, try using a body pillow or a couple of regular pillows between your legs...it helps me from rolling over onto my stomach completely.
I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I still somewhat lay on my stomach (half way between on my belly and on my side). My belly isn't very big, so I can still do that...it all depends on how big your stomach gets. And trust me, if it was hurting you or your baby your body wouldn't let you do it, it would be painful.
⥠Congratulations and good luck! â¥

Its not prohibited by doctors to sleep on your belly, as it is to sleep on your back, the only thing is that it could be uncomfortable for you, but if you feel comfy this way, so do it.
but remember that eventually you wont be able to do it because of the size of your tummy, so if I were you I would started to TRY to sleep on my side (specially left side) to get use to it.
I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I'm a little exaggerated but I started sleeping on my side almost since I found out I was pregnant.
Still very uncomfortable and my hips, and back hurts to sleep that way, but those are sacrifices we start doing for our baby's well being.
Congratulations on your baby, and good Luck!!

Yes, it's normal. It sounds to me like your bed is too soft. When you sleep on your side you aren't getting enough support. What's actually happening is your body is having a hammock effect from the majority of your weigh (your lower back and stomach) slump too far down. This will be uncomfortable because your spine isn't align.
You can sleep on your stomach because your soft bed allows your tummy to sink in and allow your spine to be align.
I recommend if you can afford it to get a new bed that has a plush top, something not too soft or too firm. That way you can get the comfort with the support. Your body and baby wil thank you for it.

I was not comfortable seeping on my side either but it is what my doctor told me was best-especially the left side. I would NOT sleep on my stomach because even though the baby is well protected it still puts a lot of pressure there and you wont be able to sleep on your stomach once you get really big anyway. I have been told that it is not good to sleep on your back for long periods of time either-Good luck.

You really should not be sleeping on your belly. The back is best during pregnancy but your left side is also safe (avoide laying / sleeping on your right side for more than 20 min.)

its normal esp if thats how you are used to sleeping. Just keep trying to sleep on your side for it provides better blood flow to your baby. From what ive read though it says not to freak out if you find yourself wakingup on your stomache. But eventually it wont be comfortable anymore and you wont have a choice but to sleep on your side. Good luck.

its normal cause I use to only be able to sleep on my tummy. I have learnt by putting something behind my back and lay cuddled up to something on my left side I can go to sleep.
