From experience I can tell you it's no fun and probably won't go "quick." Ask for a floor scraper at any hardware store. It's kind of like a big razor on the end of a broomhandle. If the vinyl's old you might get the vinyl up but find that the adhesive is still stuck on the subflooring and will require even more scraping. If the subfloor is concrete slab, cover your electronics & get a dustmask, you'll need it.

I don't know what you are going to replace the flooring with but there are a lot of floor coverings that can go over vinyl.
I just put laminate flooring right over the vinyl.

at your local rent a center ,there is a machine that's easy to use that peels vinyl off concrete floors
wood floors with vinyl on them ,use a razor to cut smaller squares and use a scraper to get under the vinyl and peel up ,lots of times the sub wood floors are ruined and need replacing

my bf does this for a living... he just slashes it and rips it up... then i think he sands the floor or gets any bumpy bits off, then possibly puts cement down if needed (then sands flat) or sheets of that under the floor stuff.... then new vinyl down!! and use silicon around the edges and welds any joins together!!
