my daughter does the samething. She only cat naps in the day and its becoming harder and harder to get her to nap. I'm not all to concerned about it but yes the fussiness works on the last nerve because you know they want to sleep.
Teething is a possibility I was just talking to another mom on a mommy message board that said at 2.5 months her daughter has teeth! Just not ones breaking through actual teeth. i was shocked i did not think it started until around 4 months and could last for months on end with out seeing any teeth.
I would look in the babies mouth look for signs on teething. red swollen gums, excessive drooling, wanting to chew on everything, fever.
Lastly as babies get older they just start to sleep less. I know it seems they sleep forever when they are first born. Is he sleeping well in the night? And how many cat naps is the baby getting through out the day? I wouldnt be overly concerned if he is sleeping well at night. But anytime you feel unsure about something call your pedi thats what they are they for!
Good luck!

How long is he sleeping during the night? does he sleep 8 hours? When he wakes up does he wake up pleasant, or is he cranky? If he is pleasant, than he had a long enough nap, if he is cranky, he may be going to sleep without enough milk/cereal in his stomach and he wakes up because he's hungrey- babies cry for 3 reasons, hunger, tired and dirty diaper, the 4th is sickness and at 4 months, you should kind of know his cries as to what they represent. If feeding well before his nap doesnt work, discuss this with his pediatrician at your next visit. By the way, keep a notebook of when he fusses- like how many hours he slept the night before when he ate, when he wouldn't sleep, it may give some insight to the pattern problem for the doctor. Good luck with you baby---and yes, he could be starting on teeth

My son started fighting his sleep at around 2 or 3 months so its normal for a 7 week old to do that. Yes she can be spoiled but only if you hold her all the time. If you are only holding her to put her to sleep and awake times to play then its not going to spoil her. Have you tried a pacifier or swing? A 7 week old cant self soothe so no you shouldnt let her cry unless you get too stressed out. Then walk out of the room and go back in after a minute to calm yourself down.

Read "Baby Wise" the book. I had my daughter sleeping through the night in just 7 weeks and is a great napper. It's all about a schedule and how to keep it.
It's an awesome book, it will help a lot if followed.

Speaking as a mother: I would say that possible overstimulation could be the problem. If the baby is being over stimulated eg. too much noise, too many people holding him/her, to much comotion, etc.... then it will be hard for him/her to settle down for a nap. Also; rocking in a soothing, darker enviroment might work.

Something's definitely wrong, or it could just be a mild discomfort. So, always check on him. Also, use free diapers and wipes with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. It really helps! For more tips, you may learn more from this site http://www.upkb.com/diapers.php

sounds like it could be slight colic. Try rubbing his stomach. Gently. Also, i would try feeding him some baby food a little rice cereal. Maybe he is not getting full enough. There is also a medicine you can get from wal-mart or any pharmacy it is for colic in babies. But, if it is colic rubbing his stomach could help.

I won't make a fuss about it. Believe it or not, your worries are shared by most mommies. But to help you feel better, it would be good to be prepared for just about everything. You may also get free diapers and wipes. Just browse this site http://www.upkb.com/diapers.php for more info.

When my daughters had a hard time getting there children to sleep, she would bring them to me. I would send them out, and I would put my grandchild in the crib, and turn on the vacuum, it worked all the time, I don't know why but it did.
