I'm only guessing here, but when the PT Cruiser was designed, it was going to be released under Plymouth. Of course, before it's debut, it was determined by Daimler-Chrysler that Plymouth was getting the ax, so it was released as a Chrysler. I'm guessing that the "PT" stands for "Plymouth Touring Cruiser".
