My daughter wears skirts that I think are too short. I bought her an 18" half slip. I told her she can wear any skirt she wants as long as she wears the slip under it. This keeps her from wearing too short a skirt or her slip will show. She did let it show a couple of times, Now she thinks it's cool to let a slip show. Is this ok?

Letting a little of the bottom of the slip show is fine but 2" of it is just silly. Explain to her that it's not about just the sheerness of the skirts but that a slip will let the skirt fabric flow over the body and not bunch up or look awkward. That's why all the couture designers like Chanel, Lauren, Prada etc line their garments. It's like a built-in slip. Teens are so brand conscious, that may make a dif to her.

If not, I wouldn't keep ragging on her or she won't listen at all after a while. Keep in mind that she may be removing the slip when she's out of the house, too so...

I do not see why it's not all right. You have told her that you don't want her wearing the short skirts and she has to wear the slip. The slip covers whatthe short skirt didn;t. If she is trying to show her individuality then cool ask her if she wants slips in any other colors. Also like one of the girls sugested the footless tights are really popular right now although if she's setting her own style she may not wear them.
Don't go all hardcore on her or she will just rebel and end up not listening.

I'd let it go at this point. You've done something to make your daughter cover up to the extent you wanted. What does it matter if it's a longer skirt covering her or if it's the slip? Unless the slip is really racy or something..... the point is that you've covered up enough of her legs that you feel she looks appropriate. You've won the clothing battle for now! Good for you for making a stand, and to keep the peace I'd let her have her little rebellion and let the slip show. Her teachers will let you know if it's an issue, I'm sure.

NO it is not ok. If she is your daughter you need to get control of her and tell her she is not wearing those skirts. Do it in a way she will accept dont jsut say "you will not dress like that" but, get your point across and show her who the boss is or you are really going to have your hands full. I mean surely you can get ahold of these clothes when she is not at home if she jsut totally disagrees but, do something now before some sicko gets there hands on her. Wake up who is the parent? Sorry to be so blunt but I mean for real, you cannot let her do this she is the daughter and you are the grown up.

Islam essentially requires their women to wear long skirts as part of the very modest dress, but Islamic women everywhere are doing away with this aging religious requirement by doing such things like wearing pants. The Holy Trinity will never deny any women entrance into the Heaven because they wore pants. There are alot of personal freedoms in christianity. We are to be an example though... St. Paul the apostle expressed to the early church in a letter(epistle) concerning this very matter that the christian woman is to dress modestly.

if it covers her up whats the difference if it shows or not? As long as shes wearing it then it doesn't make a difference whether she thinks its cool or not.

But showing that your concerned is good because some teens are wearing wayy too inappropiate clothes for their age.

She's trying to be fashionable and pretty within your boundaries.
Let her be, its just fashion.
Remember the 1960's, don't bend over dresses?? They had matching panties!
If its cold where u live, black opaque or knit tights are the rage with short short skirts.
Its just fashion!

my mother wouldn't let me leave the house without bike shorts under any of my skirts no matter what length they were.

I really like long dresses. My bf enjoys the short ones. So my wardrobe is stuffed w/ 1/2 and 1/2.
