I cannot imagine it happens, but it is in fact. Do you know anyone around you or are you in the trouble?

Well, first off, incest is not always "child abuse." Sex between closely related CONSENTING adults probably happens.

In the USA, incest is not common. There is a stereotype about the south, that it happens there a lot. This is untrue. In fact, the highest rates of incest in the USA are found in among hispanics.

Furthermore, incest is RAMPANT in Central and South America.

Incest has nothing to do with abuse in a lot of cases. A lot, and I mean a lot of the time it's usually a same age brother and/or sister, and/or cousins who are hitting that time in their life where they are going through a lot of changes (puberty) and are curious. It really isn't as uncommon as people think. Also, there isn't really much anyone can do between consensual sex in adults even if it is incest.

The only real problem with incest is if the ones committing incest are reproducing. The offspring have a high chance of having problems such as birth defects.

I have worked with a LOT of kids who have been victims and perperpetators of incestuous behavior both in rural NY and in the gheto of Phoenix. It definitely exists and is a much bigger problem than people like to admit, mostly in lower income dysfunctional type families but also in some other classes too. A lot of it is done by teenage boys and also a lot is done by "funny" uncles, stepdads, parents boyfriend or girlfriend and some because of drug or alcohol abuse by family members. As one person above said, it often starts as exploration between kids, kind of like playing doctor and goes too far. A lot of boys I work with have been charged as Sex offenders because they molested their younger siblings or cousins and they are prosecuted and tried as criminals if someone finds out. Actually some of them are still technically virgins and are convicted sex offenders because of a family offense.
Happens a lot in poor rural neighborhoods, inner city gheto and indian reservations and trailer parks but it can happen anywhere.
Very sad and scary.
Scars kids and families for life.

WTF,, err no,, not an issue with me, or anyone that I know of,, my family and I adhere to Christian viewpoints and moral laws, and man made laws of decency. It happens and the exploitation occurs on U.S. television on shows such as Jerry Springer, but this is not meant to be a social judgment and bias the viewpoints of traditional families, just another sick, demented, sexual deviance, similar to pedophilia, and rapists.. we don't' condone that behavior. If you're contemplating it, I'm sad for you, and think you're really messed in the head,, if you're pointing out a sick issue, then we already know that deviance occurs in many areas even in families, but many of us are trying to protect victims of cruelty in this area, and if you're exploiting it in jest, then I hope you rot, and if you're hoping you'll actually offer such educational value in your analysis, then you're entirely wrong, as this is prevalent in many communities, and countries and most all, see it as twisted.

I don't think its a big issue, except for child abuse. I am sure some of it happens because a lot of people will have sex wherever they can get it.
