I just don't understand why everyone can't call themselves a moderate and listen to both sides (or more), and decide from there.

I don't know, but I don't like it. That is why I oppose political parties. If there were no political parties then polititians would be forced to tell people what they think on certain issues instead of just hiding behind the label of a party and having people vote on you based solely on your party. Not to say that no one looks into a canidate before they vote but the number must be considerably small on both the republican and democratic side. Because I know that America will never get rid of political parties I think that a third party is a good compromise because with a third party America is not split in half. With a third party then all parties have more of a chance. People will still blindly vote for their party, but this way at least every party would be more equal.

Very simply, I and my colleagues and opponents are not moderates. I am an extreme liberal, so are my "comrades" as the Repugs like to call them.. Those Repugs are extremely conservative. We know what we believe and we dont really need to spend a great deal of time considering someone who isnt liberal or conservative.

But I understand what you mean

that's a good question. people should not just vote Rep. or Dem. straight across the board just because its their party. right now though i think we'd do pretty good if we vote out all the incumbents and start fresh.

they don't understand what they themselves believe, so they vote for whichever candidate says the best bunch of lies and has the most tv ads. money wins elections, not the voters.

Because people think someone else will always do a better job; even if they don't know anything about them. And even if you do know a little about them, how do you know how they will really serve?
