The main conflict is between the bad guy whose name is not mentioned by anybody but Harry and Harry, the champion of the forces of good in the story. They have a history that goes back to Harry's infancy when his parents were killed by the evil guy. (What is his name, anyway?) This conflict culminates around the stone and was resolved when Harry vanquishes him and we get to see him fall apart into a bizillion little pieces. Hope that helps.

I don't believe that the conflict was actually resolved as the antagonist continues in the next book. Harry did defeat (I believe it was Nicholas Flammel? Dont' have the book here) by piercing the book, but the real antagonist is Voldemort, and he's not completely vanquished at this point.
