My garage door often, but not always, will not close at night. During the day, it works fine. But, at night, the door will close to within about 10 inches of the floor then reverse and re-open. The lights on the opener will then flash four times (its a Craftsman) as if there is something blocking its way. (The path is actually clear of obstructions.) Any thoughts? Thank.s

It could just be the sensors on it are going bad. I had to finally call a garage door repair man to come out to fix mine. Mine was doing the same thing. Did you try holding down the button on the wall that closes it?(not the remote one but the wall one) I use to have to hold mine down and keep holding it until it closed all the way. Hope that works.

Mine was doing that for a while- I found out that it can sense objects if they are within a certain distance away- I started parking about 1 further up in the garage and then it shut fine... My car was not directly in the path but the bumper was within a few feet- the sensor was picking it up... you may also want to check for rocks or something in the path.

Sometimes if there is a light source landing on the sensors will trip it. during the day the sun could do it, and at night may be a yard light that shines into the garage sometimes.

Manually open and close the door after disengaging the opener by pulling the rope. If the door is binding while closing it will also make the closer reverse. Make adjustments to the rails accordingly

Lol, I actually have the opposite problem, works at night, not during the day. The sensor on mine is goofy and won't work in direct sunlight. Just replace the sensor...

Mine was performing similarly. There are two fine tune adjustment screws on the unit itself. I finally got mine under control adjusting those. I would however check the owners manual first so you don't have it opening up by itself in the middle of the night. Good luck

Try adjusting the aim of the sensors at each side of the door.
