External memory drives are actually extremely cheap these days and the prices are falling quite steadily. In your case, you would be looking at a mid-side external hard drive. In most cases, external hard drives attach to your computer via an USB 2.0 port and is a little bit slower in access time than an internal hard drive. However, the advantage is that you can take it anywhere. These hard drives can be partitioned to be as a disk drive (C:\ , D:\, etc) that is set in the system, or can act as a removable storage device (like a floppy disk but a lot more powerful).

I suggest you partition it as a removable drive just to save time. As for pricing, an external drive (depending on size) is generally at most $90 more than a hard drive of same size/quality. Usually, this is around $150-$300 USD. good luck :)

I just purchased one, the case to put the hard drive in was $55 Aus.
Then i had a choice of desktop hard drives to go into the case ranging from $90 Aus for an 80 GB upwards
