Okay for a while i've had bad cracking in my ankles and knees when i walk. i thought it was just normal but i had my hand on my left knee once and i extended it and bent it back to a 90 degree angle like your sitting and i felt it move and pop. like something is snapping into place and my other knee doesnt do it. I'm wondering is it bone chips in the knee lack of cartiliage or possibly osteroposis(sp) because i have crohns disease and Osteroposis comes with crohns. same thing happens with my right ankle oddly enough. i have no pain in it just the feeling. i havent ran into anything or banged my knee up seriously at all. any ideas?

Id agree with seeing a physical therapist which i am or a doctor doc would be better to see first. being your not having any pain it cant be cartiliage it could be a bone chip or osteroposis but id believe that if your knee is snapping youd either be in pain or be heavily swollen. if you dont want to see the dr. right away id suggest doing some stretches because it may also be fluid in the knee. stretching would eliminate that problem for the most part.

Yeah, actually I think I've experienced the same thing and continue to. I don't take proper care of my knees, which would explain the whole cracking thing, but my ankles crack randomly. I've done just a little bit of research on it, and it's pretty much harmless; you've just gotta be careful of your positioning (knees should not extend beyond your toes when lifting heavy items... ideas of the sort). I didn't feel pain when they would crack; it just irked me to know that they were cracking. It went away after a couple of days, though.

I don't know if what you're experiencing coincides with Crohn's disease, but I'm gonna suggest what everyone else has suggested and will continue to: check up with your doctor and find out if anything fishy is going on.

It has something to do with the air bubbles on your bones and the fluid. The tension that builds up creates a cracking sound, this occurs to me additionally, nonetheless that's no longer something to be traumatic approximately. that's extremely effortless.

Your best bet would be to see a doctor, or physical therapist.
