All body piercings depend on the individual. I have 5 and some healed quicker than others. It is very important to keep the area clean and dry! The belly button is a tough area due to your pants rubbing when you sit and walk. If the area is not red then you are fine. If it is a little red then a little neosporin works. If a lot red you might want to go back and have it looked at, most places are great about that. If just bothering you than I'd say your fine just taking a little to heal and you might be irritating it. Good Luck!

If it's been 3 weeks and it hurts I wonder if it's infected. Mine only really hurt when the pants I wore were rubbing it or it was getting infected. If you think it's getting infected, clean with peroxide. To speed healing get one of the large bandaids that are rectangualr or square and put honey on the piercing, cover with the bandage overnight, and clean again with peroxide the next morning. Honey is a natural antibiotic and you'll be amazed how much it speeds healing.

Mine didn't hurt at all, everyone is different though. Make sure are on the look out for infection otherwise that could turn bad. The latest story on piercings is a girl who got gangrene and had 4 hours to live or the option of losing a breast...true story...keep it clean!!! Check out the article if you do not believe me!!

I got mine pierced like ten years ago an mine hurt for like six weeks because I had to keep it hid from the rents and my shirt was constantly rubbing it and keeping it irritated - as long as its not discharging any fluid and you are keeping the neosporin on it, it should be fine and make sure you are keeping it moved so the skin doesn't grow to it - any more specific questions you can email if you like - it will stop hurting though and it will be like having your ears pierced - you won't know it unless something catches on it - also if the top of your pants keep pushing/pulling on it like when you sit down that can make it stay sore for longer too.

It only hurts a little bit until the gangrene sets in and then it just rots off.
