ok isn't there some OTHER method something along those lines to CHOOSE the sex of the baby???

Yes.

If you have a family history of a genetic disease, and you're conceiving through IVF, the clinic can perform a preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) that will also reveal the sex of the embryo.

Most clinics, however, will not do this unless there is a medical reason to do so, or unless you already have many children of the same sex.[

No, you cannot choose the sex of the baby through in vitro fertiliation. In vitro fertilization is just to start the conception process....

Here is an article with several methods short of IVF with PGD. They don't yield as certain results but you can increase your chances of boy or girl for a fraction of the cost of an IVF with PGD.
