I'm a Realtor. I have a client, who has become a friend over the years. Whenever he has a real estate question, I get it answered for him. Whenever he knows of someone who wants to buy or sell a house, I get their information and an introduction. I'll do anything real estate wise for this guy..... become that guy for a Realtor in your town and you'll have all your real estate questions answered all the time by your family's Realtor.

go to www.trulia.com and enter the street address, city, state and hit search. you will be able to see the sales price if it sold within the past few years

zillow.com will give you a very broad range. Your best bet is to contact a local Realtor and ask for comparables of the area you are interested in.
